The Kamloops Art Gallery is delighted to announce the 11th Annual Kamloops Wine Festival running from March 5 to 13, 2009, and co-presented with Forster’s Convention Centre. An important Gallery fundraiser, this year’s Festival includes the always-popular Consumer Wine Tasting event and three new features: a limited-seating Wine Seminar, a city-wide Restaurant Wine Event, and, for those who work professionally with wine, a private Wine Trade Tasting.
Wine Seminar: “Shiraz, from Around the World!”
Thursday, March 5, 7:00 pm
This seminar is for those who truly appreciate one of the world’s great grapes. Learn about the nuances of different types of Shiraz, and from where they originate. The presenter is Dave Johnston, from Peter Mielzynski Agencies, and the facilitator is Kevin Enns, from the B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch, Kamloops Signature Store.

Consumer Wine Tasting
Friday, March 6, 7:30 to 10:00 pm
In keeping with the theme “Vino Italia, eh!” the wine tasting will include more than 150 B.C. and International wines including Italian wines. Compare old world wines to those of the new world! This popular wine tasting event also features abundant and delicious appetizers provided by Forster’s, wine tasting lessons, cooking with wine demonstrations, live entertainment with Henry Small and the R Brothers, and an opportunity to visit several wine and non-wine related exhibitors. On top of all of this there will a silent auction featuring great get-aways to the Okanagan or Vancouver, amazing wines and wine related goods, and fine art. All proceeds from the auction go to Kamloops Art Gallery.

A special $99/night/couple hotel rate is available with wine festival tickets at Kamloops Towne Lodge (250-828-6660).
Restaurant Wine Events Seven outstanding restaurants from around the city will create their own menus for this new Festival event. They will showcase wine & food pairings, feature select wines, and offer food specials created with wine. Participating restaurants include Bistro 326, Brownstone Restaurant, Chapter’s Viewpoint, Hoodoo’s at Sun Rivers, Ric’s Grill, Tango Tapas & Wine Bar, and Vittorio’s Italian Restaurant.
