| Canadian & U.S. Champion Equestrian Competitors Headed for Kamloops Tuesday, June 27th, 2006 |
| Kamloops, B.C.: The Tournament Capital of Canada, Kamloops, will be playing host to over 150 talented riders and their horses from across Canada and the United States from July 1st through 3rd at Johvale Stables in Pritchard.
The 3-day event will bring together riders to compete in three equestrian disciplines: dressage, an event where each horse must perform a series of movements testing the rider’s control of the horse; cross country track, an event where competitors must complete a course of difficult obstacles in a countryside setting; and show jumping, an event where each horse must clear a number of obstacles on a set course within a specified time. Tourism Kamloops CEO Lee Morris, an avid equestrian fan herself, is looking forward to the Kamloops region hosting the prestigious event. “The public, knowledgeable about horses or not, is welcome to enjoy the dressage tests which start at 8 am on July 1st, cross country track on July 2nd and stadium jumping on July 3rd. It will not only be a great event to celebrate the sport of equestrian, but also will showcase the Kamloops region to new visitors from across North America.” Heather Blomgren, owner of Johvale Stables, is looking forward to hosting the event. “I personally find that one of the most exciting elements of the competition is the cross country track where riders compete through a series of jumps over a 2 km cross country track.” says Heather. “Our course is one of a few in Canada and will provide a great challenge for the riders and their horses as well as provide excitement for spectators.” Spectators interested in taking in the event at Johvale Stables (located at 1732 Upper Duck Range Road in Pritchard) can contact Heather Blomgren at (250) 577-3283. |
