August 17, 2010, Kamloops, B.C. – Tobiano, the celebrated resort community near Kamloops, British Columbia, will begin construction of the Tobiano Marina on the south shore of Kamloops Lake this fall. In celebration of its newest amenity, the next 10 purchasers of Tobiano lots will receive a 2011 reserved boat slip, 2011 golf membership and a full HST Sales Credit. Lots at Tobiano start at $189,900, inclusive of HST.

“We are particularly excited to introduce ocean-proven engineering and design to our B.C. Interior freshwater lake,” says Michael Grenier, president of Pagebrook Inc. and developer of Tobiano. "Tobiano Marina’s environmentally friendly floating breakwater design will attenuate one-meter wave conditions from multiple wind directions and during all seasonal lake level variations."

To be operational at the commencement of the 2011 boating season, Phase 1 works include 124 boat slips in 25- and 30-foot configurations with 990 lineal feet of dock extensions and headers. The marina basin will be sheltered by two expansive 500-foot floating breakwaters, constructed of concrete and wood. Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. will prefabricate the components in its works yard and install them at Tobiano throughout the fall and winter. The existing trestle, observation deck, boat launch and fuel dock will be incorporated within the protected marina basin. Marina capital expenditures will total $6.1 million.

Kamloops Lake
Tobiano Marina is the only protected harbour on scenic 30-km long Kamloops Lake, one of the BC Interior’s major water bodies. Fed by the North and South Thompson Rivers and clear waters that flow from Wells Grey Park and the Shuswap, Kamloops Lake is an untapped recreation playground for boaters and water-sport enthusiasts alike. The Lake’s 60 km of open shoreline is now accessible to the boating public for picnics, exploration and as an activity base for a family day of fun. Grenier notes, “Just one afternoon on uncrowded Kamloops Lake, and you’ll wonder why you haven’t been boating here for years”.

Tobiano
Only 15 minutes west of Kamloops on Highway 1, Tobiano is one of Western Canada’s leading resort communities, celebrated for its Thomas McBroom-designed golf course and the architecture of several of its award-winning buildings.
