| Tourism Kamloops Double Dog Dare Campaign Heats Up Monday, June 7th, 2010 |
Kamloops, B.C.; The Tourism Kamloops Double Dog Dare campaign is well underway and it going to heat up even more in June.
“So far, our Double Dog Dare campaign, featuring TV Personality, Meteorologist and Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga, has garnered a lot of positive attention” says Tourism Kamloops’ CEO Ms. Lee Morris. “People have been visiting the Tourism Kamloops website and voting every day for the top three challenges they’d like to see Mark Madryga do this summer.” These challenges range from a Walk-on Role in Project X Theatre Productions’ presentation of the Rocky Horror Show this summer and robbing the ‘2141’ steam locomotive to hand feeding the wolves at the BC Wildlife Park and mutton busting. The campaign launched with 12 challenges and now the field is going to start to narrow to heat up the competition. Starting Monday, June 7, the bottom two voted for challenges will come off leaving a Top 10, followed the next week by two more for a Top 8 and finally on June 21 another two exiting making way for the Top 6 to fight it out for Top 3 status. The Top 3 voted for challenges will then be done by Mark Madryga the final weekend of July. “The campaign has brought some great attention to Kamloops and the staggering variety of activities and events we have in our city,” says Ms. Morris. “It is our goal to bring awareness to www.tourismkamloops.com where visitors will find out all they need to know about planning an exciting getaway in Kamloops this summer.” Early indications show an average 85% increase in visits to the Tourism Kamloops website, attributed to a strategic marketing plan including the Double Dog Dare campaign targeting the Lower Mainland and other key market areas. These increases have driven more interest to all tourism products featured on the website including accommodation, golf product, attractions, nightlife, and more.
