~Sedric’s Adventure Resort and Theme Park~

Kamloops, B.C.; There are two very notable monikers the city of Kamloops is enjoying at present. The first is Canada’s Tournament Capital and the second, hottest new golf destination in Canada. But now, Kamloops could very well be known as one of the best Family Vacation Destinations with an announcement made just last week.

“We are more than thrilled with the recent announcement by the T’Kumlups First Nations Band and local developers to build Sedric’s Adventure Resort and Theme Park,” says Tourism Kamloops CEO Lee Morris. “The $200-million-plus project will entrench Kamloops on the map as one of the best Family Vacation Destinations.”

The project Ms. Morris refers to is called Sedric’s Adventure Resort and Theme Park which will be built in 5 phases with construction starting this May for a state-of-the-art water park opening in late spring of 2010. Named Sedric’s Aquatic Adventure, guests will enjoy a 17 acre water park where wristbands will be scanned to allow them access to the water park, hotel and lockers. Plus, Terasen Gas and Sedric’s have signed an agreement that would see Terasen develop energy from alternate sources, such as solar and geo-thermal with the goal of making Sedric’s North America’s most “environmentally friendly” resort.

When fully built over an anticipated five-year period, the 45 acre sight will feature Sedric’s Aquatic Adventure, a marquee hotel, a convention centre, a 150 foot liquid fireworks water fountain and a 2,500 Multi-plex with a retractable roof.

“Tourism Kamloops sees this addition as a result of a positive shift towards the tourism industry’s contribution to the economy of Kamloops,” says Ms. Morris. “This development will put Kamloops in the forefront of people’s minds when choosing a vacation destination because not only are we able to offer world renowned outdoor recreational opportunities but now this further addition of an exciting adventure resort and theme park.”
