Stand Up Paddle Surfing (SUP) is a sport with deep roots in Hawaiian history. In the 1940's, Waikiki's beach boys used single blade "kanu" paddles to propel their oversized surfboards to watch over their guests. There are many SUP options in Kamloops.

The Kamloops Museum & Archives has added a Children's Museum! It is located on the first floor of the museum and includes interactive displays such as:

The Children's Museum closes 30 minutes before the rest of the Museum

> Adams River Salmon Run 2011

Adams River Salmon Run near Kamloops This years run won't be quite as big as last years run, but you will still be able to see an abundance of crimson salmon that have returned to spawn in Adams River. The Salute usually kicks off in the first week of October. The best viewing area is at Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park which is located 8km north-east of the Trans-Canada Highway junction at Squilax, approximately 65km east of Kamloops.
Best viewing will be during the month of October

> The Tk'emlups Indian Band also hosts the Annual Kamloopa Pow Wow
During the August long weekend each year many gather around the arbour to celebrate with drumming, dancing and story telling while wearing traditional regalia. Daily (June through beginning of September), the BC Wildlife Park presents "Wildlife Encounters Festival". Get up close with mammals, reptiles and free flying Birds of Prey. Wildlife presentations are three times daily at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm.
The BC Wildlife Park is open every except for Christmas Day.

Join one of Kamloops' Christmas traditions and journey back to a time of family gatherings, carolling, hot chocolate, festive lighting and other memories associated with a Christmas of old.
As the 2141 steam powered heritage train arrives at the station, the steam surrounds her and is illuminated by hundreds of brightly coloured lights. Welcome aboard and travel with fellow guests to bring Santa Claus back to Kamloops. He will be joined by Mrs. Claus, the elves, a Winter Princess, and of course, Frosty the Snowman.
